Connecting People to Land Preservation Since 1978
Mission & Vision
Our Mission
We protect, care for, and connect all people to the vibrant natural and working lands that are essential for our community and nature to thrive together for generations to come.
Our Vision
We see a future in which the amazing diversity of lands that define and connect us to the Santa Cruz County region — the wild and working forests, the globally unique wildlife habitats, the coastal landscape, and our rich farming and ranching heritage — are cared for and preserved forever.
What We Believe In
Our organization is built on collaboration, cooperation, and a shared understanding of the importance of land preservation, maintenance, and access.
Relationships
We believe in building partnerships and allies built on mutual goals and open communication.
Trust
We build trust by being open and transparent with our community and partners.
Communication
We believe that open honest dialogue is the best approach to connecting people with the lands we protect.
Inclusion
We believe that diversity and equity are achieved when we welcome everyone to participate in caring for the land.
Innovation
We believe in the benefits of new approaches, science, and technology to improve our ability to protect and steward land.
Sustainability
We believe that one of the most powerful ways for us to address climate change is to preserve and restore open spaces and support the unique biodiversity of our region.
Making an Impact
For over four decades we have worked to protect and preserve agricultural, watershed, wildlife habitat, open space, and outdoor recreation land in and around Santa Cruz County.
The Conservation Blueprint created by the Land Trust of Santa Cruz County is a remarkably thorough and thoughtful document. The recommendations represent some very welcome fresh thinking at an important time for our county.
