I’ve been raising money for non-profits for thirty years and I’ve never had a donor say to me what I heard a few weeks ago. Two donors, who wish to remain anonymous, told me they would match every donation of ANY AMOUNT with NO LIMITS.

They will put up millions of dollars to match the gifts of others. “If those of us who can afford to help, don’t, why should anyone else?”

So, you heard it here first: any gift of any amount will be doubled between now and the end of January. $100 gifts, $1,000 gifts, $10,000 gifts… all the way up to gifts of $1 million or more… DOUBLED.

There’s fine print: “Let us know when you reach $5 million and we’ll see,” they say.

$5 million DOUBLED would be half of the $20 million we need to raise to do ALL the great things in the Great Campaign – build the Rail Trail, build a Wildlife Tunnel, build 45 miles of trails, protect hundreds of acres of farmland.

Wow. Two of those who can afford to help get all this done have stepped up. The rest is up to the rest of us. I’m making my donation – the biggest I have ever made – today.
