If the social distancing response to the pandemic has taught us anything, it is the value of public access to outdoor spaces. These past few weeks, with the air so filled with smoke that it’s unsafe to be outside, that lesson was driven home once again. With that value in mind, we are excited to announce a new trails project at the Land Trust’s Antonelli Pond!

In partnership with the California State Coastal Conservancy, we’re beginning the design process for an improved path around the pond at this beloved neighborhood park. The new design will meet the standards established by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) – groundbreaking civil rights legislation, which was passed 30 years ago this summer.

The trail will connect to ADA trails at Natural Bridges State Park and Seymour Marine Discovery Center. Conceptual design for the trail should be available to present to the public this fall.

We believe firmly that all people deserve access to nature. As we move into what seems like a more uncertain future, we remain grounded in our dedication to sustainable and equitable public access to special and wild places.
